Bearfootin' in
Hendersonville 2005
Bear Auction set for October 22
Saturday, October 22, will see the 3rd annual Bearfootin’ in Hendersonville Public Bear Auction & Bear-B-Q Lunch in front of the Historic Courthouse on Hendersonville’s Main Street. Thirty bears will take their turn on the auction block at this year’s event. Winning auction bidders will need to be prepared to write two checks for their bears -- one check payable to a charity of choice (see list of charities at the end of this article) for 75% of amount to be bid and another check for the remaining 25% to DHI to help underwrite the expenses for Bearfootin’ 2006. As with the first two auctions, the Bearfootin’ in Hendersonville Public Bear Auction on October 22 will accept sealed, absentee bids on individual bears, according to Jim Kastetter, Downtown Hendersonville, Inc.’s, Executive Director. Kastetter
says that each bear at the live auction will open with a minimum bid of
$250 and Bids should include the bidder’s name, address, and phone number; the bear that the bidder is bidding on , and two checks (one payable to a charity of choice for 75% of amount to be bid and the other payable to DHI for the remaining 25% of amount to be bid). If the absentee offer is outbid, checks will be returned to the bidders by mail. Sponsored by local businesses, organizations, and families and created by local artists and craftpersons, the whimsical bears of Bearfootin’ have brought enjoyment to families throughout the world. Kastetter says he has “met folks from every continent but Antarctica admiring our bears on Main Street.” Bearfootin’ in Hendersonville is sponsored jointly by Downtown Hendersonville, Inc., and the Henderson County Arts Council.
